Cádiz almost ready for 2012 and its
bicentenary celebrations. Almost 200 years ago
in Cadiz Andalucia Spain the cortes (courts) passed
the first Spanish Constitution, popularly known
as "La Pepa".
Cadiz celebrates signing of the Spanish Constitution
which took place on the 19th of March 1812. This
was the first Constitution granted in Spain symbolizing
democracy, freedom, rights and solidarity amongst
the people of Spain and also in the Latin American
countries.
Cadiz and the surrounding towns in the Bay of
Cadiz, San Fernando and El Puerto de Santa Maria
are preparing for this Bicentenary celebrations
in 2012, a date that will make it the Latin American
Capital of Culture.
Cadiz has numerous cultural bicentennial events
related to the 2012 set to take place. The Windsurfing
RS:X World Championships will be staged in the
Bay of Cadiz from February 24th to 28th February 2012.The tall
ships Grand Regatta on the 26th July in Bay of
Cadiz as well as a cultural fair which, over a
period of months, will bring Latin America to
the city, featuring artistic, cultural, commercial
and sporting events. There will be hundreds of
visitors flocking to Cadiz in 2012 including important
heads of State such a President Obama.
The University of Cadiz is organizing congresses,
exhibitions, and conferences linked to Latin America
universities.
The Tall Ships Regatta will be one of the most
spectacular events to be held in the Bay of Cadiz.
It will be attended by tall ships from all over
the world and Latin American countries such as
Argentina, Uruguay, Chile, Colombia, México
and Venezuela

- Lisbon, 19th to 22nd 2012
- Cádiz, 26th to 29nd 2012
- La Coruña, 10th to 13th August 2012
- Dublín, 23th to 26th August 2012
